Giving My Best for Your Smile
Dr. Tyr R. Peterson
Commitment to Continuing Education
To provide my patients the best that modern dentistry has to offer I have made an overwhelming commitment to post graduate continuing education that has taken me far beyond what I learned in dental school. I hold both Fellowship and Master designations from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) that required more than 1600 hours of continuing education covering all disciplines of general dentistry. The Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (M.A.G.D.) award is the most prestigious, as there are only 17 other practicing dentists in Colorado that have achieved this designation.
On my path to obtaining the M.A.G.D. award I also completed the continuum of courses at The Pankey Institute. The Pankey Institute is the “Harvard Law” correlate of post graduate clinical education for practicing dentists. The Institute is where I learned to be an exceptional dentist for the benefit of my patients.
5280 Magazine Top Dentist Recognition
I have been recognized by Denver’s 5280 Magazine as one of Colorado’s Top Dentists every year since 2008 when they began publishing the list. I am proud of this recognition as the list is compiled annually exclusively through a nomination process by my fellow dentists and dental specialists. My colleagues are asked to consider my experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies, and patient results.
Commitment To The Dental Profession
I am a member of multiple professional dental associations to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for the dental profession. At a local level I maintain membership with the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society (MDDS) and the Colorado Dental Association (CDA). I am also in good standing with the Colorado State Board of Dental examiners.
I have been elected and served as the President of the Colorado Prosthodontic Society (CPS) and continue to retain my membership with the organization. The CPS is the oldest continuously operating Prosthodontic Society in the United States which supports incredible continuing education opportunities for practicing dentists in aesthetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, implant dentistry, and prosthetic dentistry, including dentures and partial dentures.
In addition, I am a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Creating natural appearing, beautiful smiles for patients is a discipline in dentistry I find very rewarding. Being a member of the AACD keeps me at the forefront of the aesthetic dentistry field so I can provide the most current and best care available.
In addition to membership in multiple dental professional organization I have also been asked by local law firms to provide expert witness/consultation analysis for dentist defendants involved in disciplinary action.
Commitment To The Community
For over a decade I have continued to volunteer my time and expertise in dentistry to the local community through organizations like the 9 Health Fair and the Give Kids a Smile Program. I have received the Outstanding Volunteer Recognition Award from the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society for my work with the 9 Health Fair.
My practice has also financially supported Arvada churches, schools, children’s sports teams, and other local and national charities. I enjoy giving back to the community that has trusted me with their dental health needs over the past decade.
Commitment to Communication
Knowledge, clinical expertise, and compassion are necessary components to providing exceptional patient care. In addition to those three components I feel one of my greatest assets is the ability to communicate with my patients. As we all know, good communication begins with listening. I start by encouraging you to ask questions and voice any concerns so that I can formulate long-term solutions that fit your individual desires and needs regarding the health and beauty of your smile. Next, I combine your desires with the detailed clinical information we have gathered and convey that information to you in a way that is easily understandable. My primary responsibility to you is not only delivering exquisite dental care, but educating you on all conditions affecting your future oral health. I often reflect on the fact that the Latin translation for “doctor” is “teacher”.
